Avian Influenza: Situation, Prevention and Sanitation is the theme for the key egg producer session on the opening day of the IEC Business Conference on Monday 3rd April this year, to be held in Monte Carlo.  The session is designed to help producers tackle the severe threat posed by Avian Influenza and is being presented by three global experts on various aspects of the disease; Dr Alex Thiermann from the OIE will provide an Avian disease: Global situation report, Dr Travis Schaal from Hy-Line International will discuss how to achieve “A culture of biosecurity” and Professor Ian Brown Head of Virology at the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency, will provide the latest research into “Survivability of AI in the poultry house; impact on cleaning and disinfection regime”.

All three speakers are part of the highly important IEC Avian Influenza Expert Group, which meets twice a year at each IEC Conference.  Members of this group will be available to meet with delegates during the conference.

The IEC’s Avian Influenza Expert Group stresses that for Avian Influenza - “Prevention is much better than cure”.  The key to protecting your egg business is excellent biosecurity and this is more important now than at any other time.

It is not too late to improve your bio-security, which is why the IEC’s Avian Influenza Expert Group recommend you review the “biosecurity checklist”.
