Founder of Hilltribe Organics and Asian Social Enterprise Incubator (ASEI)

Markus is a leading inclusive business specialist with extensive experience in consulting, research and project development on base of the pyramid (BoP) and renewable energy based in the Philippines.

He founded ASEI Inc. in 2009 to apply his broad knowledge on the nexus of business, policy and sustainable development to ASEI’s clients which include the Asian Development Bank, UNDP, World Bank, GIZ, Frankfurt School, BCI Asia and other corporates. He is retained by leading corporations to develop inclusive business models aiming for corporate growth and social impact. He provided policy advisory services to the Philippine government on inclusive business accreditation and solar roof top incentive schemes

Markus is also co-founder and CEO of Hilltribe Organics, a social enterprise producing free range and organic chicken eggs with hill tribe communities in Northern Thailand. Hilltribe Organics became the 1st ACT certified organic chicken farm in Thailand in 2016 and its products are available in all major supermarkets and gourmet restaurants. Recognizing its deep social impact the company was finalist in the 2015 NUS DBS Social Venture Challenge Asia.

Markus has a B.Sc. in Business Studies from CASS Business School and a MS International Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. He also participated 2011 in INSEAD's Social Entrepreneurship Programme in Singapore.
